Welcome 2019 Chaverim Unit Head, Rachel Petrylka
During the school year, Rachel is a Kindergarten teacher at the JCC’s very own Sarah and Irving Pitt Child Development Center! She has years of experience working with children, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University. Informed by Rachel’s expertise, we have built a developmentally appropriate Chaverim program catering to this pivotal time of life for campers and their parents.
Our nurturing environment bridges Preschool to Kindergarten. Campers enjoy age appropriate programming, where nurturing staff are chosen for their experience working with this age group.
(“ke-shet” / rainbow)
Focus is on “community” and learning what that means at camp. Campers learn how to make and foster friendships. Campers receive direction from well-trained and engaging staff.
(“b’-ya-chad” / together)
As the oldest unit at camp, campers enjoy additional activities specifically designed for this age group. Includes 3 day/2 night trips to Tamarack, Camp Maas, on 7/9–7/11 and 8/6–8/8.
