MEET THE STAFF
Randy “Grizz” Comensky
Senior Managing Director
Randy has over 25 years of camping staff experience, including 20 years as JCC Camp Director in Houston, Buffalo and St. Louis. He is a graduate of the AVI CHAI/Mandel Lekhu Lakhem Senior Fellowship program for JCC Resident Camp Directors, as well as the Jewish Experiential Leadership Institute (JELI) Fellowship for JCC Management staff.
Melissa is excited for her second year with JCC Day Camps as an Assistant Director. She has over 15 years of experience working with children as an elementary school teacher in Fort Lauderdale, St. Louis and in Metro Detroit. Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree in Judaic Studies from the University of Miami and a master’s degree in education from Florida Atlantic University.
Sam has been with JCC Day Camps since the summer of 2018 and has held the position of an Assistant Director the past two summers. Prior to joining the JCC, she served two years in AmeriCorps’ Michigan Education Corps program as a literacy interventionist for children in kindergarten through third grade. Sam holds a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Central Michigan University.
Stephanie Zoltowski, PsyD
Director, JCC Special Needs Department
Stephanie oversees all of our JCC’s day camp special needs programming. She has a doctorate degree in psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Stephanie specializes in mental health, and behavior therapy for children with autism and other developmental and learning disabilities.
Program Coordinator, JCC Special Needs Department
Shayne has been working at JCC Day Camps for the past 2 1/2 years, as well as working in the box office at The Berman. Previously he worked at an elementary school as a special needs paraprofessional. He is very excited to be joining the JCC family full-time and work with camp and the Special Needs department to continue helping campers and families make lasting memories.
Terrie brings to JCC Day Camps over twenty years of experience in office management. Since 2014, she has focused on administration of the camp office and oversight of our financial assistance program. This summer Terrie will assist camp families with the registration of all campers.
