Meet The Staff - JCC Day Camps



Shannon Hall

Senior Managing Director

Shannon has worked at the JCC since 2002 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Family Community Services with a Focus on Young Children from Michigan State University and a Post Baccalaureate in Education from Oakland University.  In addition to joining the camp team in 2021, she is also the Senior Director of Child Development.  Shannon’s vast experience with children, the community and creating a positive culture will be a great addition to our camp program. 

Melissa Mesa

Assistant Director

Melissa has been with JCC Day Camps since the beginning of 2019 as an Assistant Director.  Melissa has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami in Judaic Studies and a Master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University in curriculum and instruction in Elementary Education. Melissa oversees Camp Kehilla, Teens, and the staff.  Her favorite part of camp is Ruach!  When Melissa is not at camp she loves watching movies, working on puzzles, and spending time with her family and dogs.



Sam Pellett

Assistant Director

Sam has been with JCC Day Camps since the summer of 2018 and has held the position of an Assistant Director the past three summers. Before joining camp, Sam served in AmeriCorps for 2 years as a Literacy Interventionist for K-3. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from Central Michigan University. Sam oversees Specialty Camps, our data system CampMinder & CampInTouch, and our new camp app. Sam’s favorite part of camp is seeing campers try something new for the first time! When Sam is not at camp she loves spending time reading a good book, crafting, and cuddling with her cat Nala. 



Stephanie Zoltowski, PsyD

Director, JCC Special Needs Department

Stephanie oversees all of the JCC’s special needs enrichment programming. She has a doctorate degree in Business Psychology and specializes in behavior therapy for children with autism and other developmental and learning disabilities and professional development.  Outside of camp, she enjoys cooking, working out, and spending time with her family and pups. 



Shayne Beasley-Young

Program Coordinator, JCC Special Needs Department

Shayne is dedicated to mentoring our youth, young adults, and individuals with disabilities to become the best “you” they can be, while pushing them to reach their ultimate level of success. He has been working at the JCC for the past three years within the camp setting, working with the special needs department, and working at The Berman Center for Performing Arts. Shayne has gained tremendous experience working with special needs, as he has worked in public schools as a special needs paraprofessional. With this experience in programing and leadership within early childhood, secondary, and post-secondary education environments, Shayne is excited to bring strong, exciting, and most importantly motivating programs to JCC members, and the special needs community.  

Reina Troxell

Office Administrator

Reina has been working in camping since 2017, and is super excited to join the JCC Day Camp team as the Office Administrator! She has a bachelors degree in Geography and Sustainable Planning from Grand Valley and her favorite part of camp is seeing campers get excited about new experiences and pushing themselves outside their comfort zone. Outside of work Reina loves to read, go outside, and hang out with her cat Stinky.

Rebecca Skoczylas, Ed.S., BCBA, LBA

Mental Health Specialist

Rebecca is so excited to join the JCC camp this year! She holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University as well a Masters and Ed.S. from Georgia State University in School Psychology. Rebecca is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. When she is not in camp, she loves hanging out with her husband, three kids and dog. Her hobbies include distance running, traveling and reading. Her favorite camp activity is swimming and her favorite summer activity is making s’mores at a campfire.
